TONY SPOKOJNY

Tony is a lifetime "Detroiter". After attending the public schools of Detroit and Oak Park, he graduated from the University of Michigan in 1973.

Since graduation from law school, Tony has represented public and private parties in a variety of legal settings in and out of court. Individuals, large corporations and governmental agencies have all used Tony's legal skills litigating in the trial courts, Courts of Appeals and in the Michigan Supreme Court. Soon after graduation, he was appointed by the Attorney General for the State of Michigan to help protect state assets in law suits. He was  reappointed by two successor Attorneys General to represent the Michigan Department of Transportation in litigating claims of negligent engineering design and maintenance of state roadways involving catastrophic automobile accidents.

In addition, trained in Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR), Tony has been selected by judges and by the attorneys for private parties to resolve disputes in litigation. He has served in literally hundreds of cases as a negotiator, arbitrator and facilitator. His peers have awarded him with a rating of "A-V" from Martindale-Hubbell, a professional legal rating service. A rating of "A" is the highest possible rating of skill; a rating of "V" is a rating of the highest ethical standard.

Tony is involved in community organizations as a mentor and coach. He has also served on an environmental board as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman for more than 25 years. In that capacity, he has been responsible for helping to protect and save lakes, rivers, streams and hundreds of acres of wetlands and woodlands. He drafted an environmental ordinance which has been a model for local communities throughout the State of Michigan.

Tony regularly lectures to college and graduate students on various aspects of litigation in the business environment. He has served as a judge in his law school's moot court program. He is a devoted father of two successful adult children and an avid baseball player and coach, long distance runner and triathlete.
